Selling Electric Stun guns
( Raysun X-1) in Hong Kong, two Taiwan businessmen were arrested
Without Government permission,
the maximum sentence can be up to 3 years' imprisonment.
Hong Kong News. Hong Kong police received an anonymous
call at 3 pm day before yesterday indicated that there is an
illegal sale of self defense weapons at the Asian International
Electronic Trade Show. The police came and found 2 electric guns
and pepper spray at one booth and arrested the booth owner.
Two
Taiwan businessmen were also arrested and charged with illegal
sales of electric stun guns (Raysun X-1) and related ammunition
at the trade show. The illegal merchandise included a gun can
which shoot 6 meter electric shock needle, and an instant paralyzing
electric shock gun. The maximum sentences are a 10,000 HK Dollar
fine and 3 years in imprisonment.
Pepper spray is
also illegal. The
two businessmen were XXX XX XXX (47 years old) and XX XXX XX
(46 years old), both were charged with illegal possession of
firearm and ammunition day before yesterday at Quan Wan District
Court. They applied for bail and indicated that they are legal
self defense firearm businessmen in Taiwan. The judge postponed
the trial until 30th of November, at the same time, the judge
will ask for the opinion of the higher court. The judge denied
the bail request and these two Taiwan businessmen were imprisoned.
These electric clubs, electric guns and pepper spray can be found
quite often in Taiwan. Hong Kong law stipulates that if you want
to bring these weapons to Hong Kong, you need to apply for import
permits from the Hong Kong custom department and police authorities.
Possession of said weapons is illegal in Hong Kong and can be
fined up to 10,000 HK Dollars and 3 years' imprisonment.

We had warned the two businessmen but they would not listen.
They could not make bail and as of January 2009 were still in
jail.
